Position Summary

St. Mary Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Mathematics Teacher for Grades 3 and 5. The successful candidate will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate mathematics instruction that challenges students to think critically, solve problems, and develop confidence in their mathematical abilities.

The Mathematics Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers and administration to support student achievement while contributing to the Catholic mission and faith-filled environment of the school. The ideal candidate is an organized, positive, and compassionate educator who enjoys working with elementary-aged students and understands the importance of developing both academic skills and character.

Essential Responsibilities

Instruction and Learning

• Provide mathematics instruction to students in small class setting for Grades 3 and 5 according to the school’s curriculum and academic standards.

• Develop and implement engaging, hands-on lessons that promote mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

• Teach and reinforce grade-level mathematical concepts, skills, vocabulary, and computational fluency.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the varied academic needs and learning styles of students.
• Provide appropriate support and enrichment for students as needed.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, manipulatives, technology, and real-world applications to enhance student understanding.
• Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
• Provide timely feedback to students to help them recognize their strengths and areas for growth.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate concerns regarding student progress to the classroom teacher and administration.

• Establish a positive, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment.
• Maintain consistent classroom expectations and procedures in accordance with school policies.
• Encourage students to persevere when faced with challenging mathematical concepts.
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Promote confidence, responsibility, cooperation, and a growth mindset in mathematics.
• Support the social and emotional development of students through positive encouragement and respectful interactions.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate closely with the Grades 3 and 5 classroom teachers to ensure consistency in curriculum, instruction, expectations, and student support.
• Communicate regularly with classroom teachers regarding student progress, needs, and concerns.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents and guardians when appropriate and as directed by administration.
• Work cooperatively with interventionists, support staff, and administration to meet individual student needs.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Wisconsin teaching license or appropriate teaching credentials preferred.
• Previous elementary teaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of elementary mathematics concepts and instructional practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and school staff.
• Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.

Position Details

Position: Part-Time Mathematics Teacher 12-3 or 11:15-2:15

Grade Levels: 3rd and 5th Grade

Reports To: Principal and/or School Administration

Schedule: Part-time, based on the school’s instructional schedule
